AOΠ Defined: One Word
The sisters of AOΠ were challenged to post ONE WORD she would use to describe AOΠ and define it in her own words, here's what they had to say:
Sisterhood
A group of women with a common bond - AOΠ; the instantaneous connection you feel whenever you meet another AOΠ.
Ruby
Stands for love and dignity, a lifelong bond and friendship and sisterhood at AOΠ.
Inspiration
Being motivated by someone to do something - everyone in AOΠ inspires me to constantly exceed the expectations and be better than myself.
Promise
I made promises to AOΠ and myself: to be there for my sisters, to be a better person and lead my example, to live my life to the fullest and most importantly, I promised to forever have AOΠ in my heart in all that I do.
Growth
Personal and professional. I believe in "Exceed the Expectations", expectations of AOΠ, of myself and of those I cherish most. My time in AOΠ has contributed enormously to my growth as a person. Pursue excellence always.
Friendship
Lifelong bonds with girls who have similar values to you. Lifelong friendships that are as close to your heart as your family.
Opportunity
To develop yourself, learn new things, and take on challenging roles.
Grace
Live life with the highest level of dignity and respect for self and others. Challenge yourself to keep a cool head in a tough situation. Always be your best in the worst of circumstances.
Diversity
Different girls coming together, with different skill-sets and achievements, and influencing those around them.
Experiences
Meeting new people, seeing new places, doing new things, and most of all, making great memories.
Charity
AOΠ gives us the opportunity to help out in the community and give back to others. It is also an opportunity for us girls to get together and enjoy being sisters :)
Learning
Through being involved with AOΠ, things like the history, values, meaning etc. But also learning from each other through different interests, tastes, cultures, experiences that can all be shared.
Pride
Having the most amazingly beautiful, intelligent and caring individuals as my sister.
Love
The love and friendship that I have for my sisters and all members of AOΠ. Though time and distance separate us, when we are together it is like no time has past, and the common bond remains.
Unique
Every sister brings their own story to the table; different personalities are what brings us closer together and makes AOΠ so special.
Sharing
Giving others some of what you have; AOΠ has not only given me the opportunity to join their lovely community, but also has given me a new family to spend time, have fun and share back with.
Challenging
AOΠ is not an easy ride, it continually challenges our ideas and limits of creativity, ambition, and ideals. Every challenge leads us to a self awareness and self confidence we didn't have beforehand. AOΠ challenges us to be the best we can be, both as individuals and as sisters.
Refreshing
AOΠ allows us to see things from many different perspectives because each sister has her unique views; AOΠ is a place where we can get together and forget about the day's troubles, ready to take on what life throws at us with renewed energy.
Bond
AOΠ allows us to form these incredible lifelong bonds with one another. You always say that the friends you have now you'll have forever, but with your AOΠ sisters you know this is true without a doubt. Regardless of where we started off or how long it takes us to get close to each other, we know that by the end of our undergraduate years, we'll have formed great friendships and an unbreakable sisterhood.
Fabulous
AOΠ is really a group of fabulous, stunning and beautiful girls both inside and out. Not only do we try our best to succeed academically (the brains to the beauty) we work together to help each other be the best person we can be!
Unity
Anywhere you go, you're an AOΠ. The concept of a diverse (and vastly located) group of people with a common mind-set, working together for something greater.
Collaboration
AOΠ teaches the value of collaboration and teamwork. As a whole we can be so much more successful than as individuals. Collaboration allows us to share ideals, combine individual talents and share our love and respect for one another. By working together, we've become one amazing family.
Laughter
AOΠ is where we can express our emotions to the fullest. Feeling amusement and humour is one of the best things we share among each other that help bring us closer together.
Expectation
In AOΠ we are taught to exceed expectations, in the chapter and in our own lives. Always expect the best of yourself and do whatever is necessary to make it a reality.
Commitment
I think being a part of AOΠ requires commitment to the fraternity and to our sisters. By committing to AOΠ, I am promising that I will uphold the values and standards that define AOΠ.
Family
Being a part of AOΠ is being there for each other for the good and bad times. To be there for each other when things get tough and working together to make it the best sisterhood. Most importantly having a family away from home that you can always call on whenever you need each other.
