SCHOLARSHIP

AOΠ encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable. The emphasis on these pursuits was instilled by the four founding members of AOΠ in 1897 at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York, and this commitment remains a strong part of AOΠ today.

One of the primary purposes of the fraternity system is to encourage and develop high scholastic achievement among its members. Through tutoring programs, weekly study hours, creative incentives, and recognition of individual member and chapter achievements, our academic development program helps members develop expert study skills.

The AOΠ Foundation

The Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation is firmly committed to the importance of education. Since 1962, Diamond Jubilee Scholarships have been granted to over 1,015 deserving graduate and undergraduate sisters to further their educational goals. These women exhibit academic excellence as well as dedication to serving the community and Alpha Omicron Pi.

The AOΠ Foundation also provides educational, leadership and programming grants to women in AOΠ to gain important leadership skills, strengthen career achievements, enhance personal strengths, and stress the importance of today's women serving as positive role models for future AOΠ's. Educational grants awarded by the Foundation to the Fraternity ensure that AOΠ will remain a leader among women's fraternal organizations and uphold the high standards of our sisterhood.

Fulfilling the Promise Award

The Lambda Epsilon Corporation Board honours a special sister annually for her commitment to her community beyond AOΠ by awarding her the "Fulfilling the Promise Award". The award recognizes a member nominated by her sisters who has made significant contributions to the community in the form of a scholarship to help finance her education.
